Hi all,

I'm successless trying to install X for WOODY.
Surely unusual is that WOODY is running in a virtual maschine form
VMware (latest Workstation release) on my SuSE 7.3 system. The
text-modus works complainless.
After the installation of the vmware-tools there was a little success
because for a part of a second X ran but crashed then immediately :-(((
So the attached XF86Config-4.vm file is better than the original
XF86Config file (not attached, of course after a xf86config run)).
After that no more success.

What could I do now? The search with GOOGLE in newsgroups "X Debia
VMware" showed that nobody found a solution (3th Aug 2002). So what now?
Please make the answer not for Debian insiders, I'm just starting; and
so far everything works.
andreas

Hello,

This bug was filed against the wrong package so it was missed for a
while.

Recent versions of the VMWare virtualized SVGA device are recognized and
supported by the "vmware" XFree86 server module in version 4.2.1-1 and
later of the xserver-xfree86 package, now available in Debian unstable.

Closing this bug.
