The Xrender extension is not supported on all hardware in
4.0.[23] unfortunately.  This is an often reported 'bug' in our
bugzilla as well but isn't actually a bug.  It's just a harmless
warning telling you you cannot use RENDER.  I am not entirely
certain, however I think 4.1.0 supports Render on most if not all
hardware now so you might consider trying it out.
