"rapth"?   "rapth"?  Where are you digging that up?  This string doesn't
even appear in the XFree86 source tree.

Problem with your build environment?

My guess is that this "rapth" problem poisoned the well, since:

: rm -f mergelib
: rm -f gccmakedep
: rm -f lndir

: make.log MakeOut  "#"*
: make[4]: Leaving directory `/org/home/branden/xfree86/xfree86-1-3.3.6/build-tree/xc/config/util'

That's from the the i386 build, and there is nothing specific to any
processor types in the xc/config/util Imakefile.
