Well, if it is decided to put linGLU in XFree86, I can ship it in my
xlibgl1 and xlibgl-dev packages, and James Treacy (our Mesa maintainer)
doesn't have to split out libGLU. Typically, Debian minimizes the number
of shared libraries in any one package.

I'd particularly like the input of Brian Paul on this issue. Brian, do you
feel that libGL, libGLU, and libOSMesa should all occupy separate packages
in Debian, or should they be rolled together? My first inclination in to
have these 3 libs in separate packages, especially since there may be
multiple implementations packaged. That is why I have "xlibgl1" and
"xlibosmesa3". But I haven't officially released XFree86 4.x .debs yet, so
if I need to change my approach, now is the time to do it.
