Where do i get /dev/gpmdata from? I do not have it and my MAKDEV does not
know about it.
My problems are similar, but I thought it was partially my fault, I am
basically running a slink system with several selfbuilt packages from
potato. I have been running xfree 3.3.3.1 or something for quite some time
without problems. After I installed xfree 3.3.5 I noticed this mouse
problems on the console, the right buttons seems to be pressed and text is
marked, strange things happen. But the worst thing is, when I switch back
to X11 the system completely freezes, I can not even reach it anymore via
the network, no reboot with MagicSysReq.
I thought it was due to imwheel, tried the newest version, to no avail.
I thought it was due to gpm, tried the newest version, to no avail.
I downgraded xfree to slink, to no avail.
I removed imwheel and wondered why I could still scroll in xterms with the
wheel, but the problem was still there.
I finally removed also gpm, now it does not crash anymore, but I also dont
have a mouse on the console anymore. Under X everything is fine, except that
the wheel is not suppored by netscape and many other programs anymore.
So it seems the problem is caused by gpm, how to configure it correctly,
where to get /dev/gpmdata from, do I need to try MAKEDEV from potato? I dont
want to upgrade the machine to potato yet, I need a stable system, but maybe
potato is better than what I have with a only few packagages from potato.
Ciao,
Christian.
