Contributing to the English source code - technical writing and programming

To whom it may concern:

This is my first attempt - though it will be far from the last of many foreseeable efforts - to reach out to the Debian development team with the aim of foraging a relationship and becoming integral to the development of the operating system. I am not quite sure where to begin although I successfully located some assistance in the form of instruction on how to navigate WML language based pages. While I am unfamiliar with that coding language, I am confident I can pick it up easily enough.

I found myself turned off while going through the vetting process for a job with a Debian based distribution and so I found myself here - after great consideration and after consulting with friends and colleagues who are involved with the open source community. I will be installing Debian in a virtualized environment as I run Ubuntu - at least momentarily - for my primary operating system. If someone could respond to this, so that I have a person to consult with and get clarification on how to go about this process, I'd greatly appreciate it.

About me, I have a formal education in cybersecurity, have worked a few tech jobs and currently reside in New Jersey, slightly south of New York City. In another lifetime, I worked as a freelance newspaper stringer for the Indianapolis Star, the paper of record for Indiana.

I know Bash fairly well and have begun studying C. I am also interested in Go and know some Python, given a position I worked as a cybersecurity bootcamp instructor.
