Who's using Debian?
Hi. We are a digital research and information centre named "Centro de
Investigación e Información Digital (CIID)", in the Faculty of Political
and Social Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico
(UNAM), Mexico city.
Our organization type is educational and our website is
http://www.ciid.politicas.unam.mx/ (by the moment we are changing the
content and so is out of service).
We use Debian on 42 computers for thesis consultation, databases, web
browsing and courses for students and teachers. The main applications
that are in use are Iceweasel, Chromium, Ted, Zotero, VLC, Xournal,
Audacity, GIMP and Inkscape. Furthermore we use Debian in one computer
for scanning materials with Xsane, SimpleScan and as a print server with
CUPS. Also one of our members uses Debian as his main operating system
for everything in the daily use (LibreOffice, Iceweasel, Icedove, Liferea).
We choose Debian over other GNU/Linux Distributions, because of it's
sense of community, principles, development way, stabilty and nice work
always in the maintenance and security of all software included in it.
