Bug#504738: distrib/index.wml: mistakable description about advantages of bought CDs
Package: www.debian.org
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
The text about CDs is likely to be read in a way, that suggests
bought CDs would have advantages over self-burned which they haven't.
Since Revision 76836 of /webwml/trunk/webwml/english/distrib/index.wml
http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/webwml/trunk/webwml/english/distrib/index.wml?rev=76836&r1=60337&r2=76836
combined with the earlier Revision 30454
http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/webwml/trunk/webwml/english/distrib/index.wml?rev=30454&r1=24177&r2=30454
This is the current wording:
> Here are the basic advantages of CDs prepared by someone else:
> * Installation from a CD set is more straightforward.
> * You can install on machines without an Internet connection.
> * You can install Debian (on as many machines as you like) without
downloading all
> packages yourself.
> * The CD can be used to more easily rescue a damaged Debian system.
Since these also apply to self-downloaded and burned images,
I suggest to delete the "prepared by someone else"-part.
