Package: lists.debian.org Version: N/A; reported 2001-06-09 Severity: wishlist Hello, when I first subscribed to Debian mailing lists, it took me quite a while to work out all those Debian-specific acronyms used on the lists. I think it would be a very good idea if all new subscribers were sent a list of acronyms in the "You have added to the subscriber list of" (sp! ;-) message, e.g. a paragraph like this: On the Debian mailing lists, a number of acronyms specific to Debian are in common use. Here is a list of the most important ones - more information on the individual terms is available on <http://www.debian.org> AM (new maintainer) application manager BTS bug tracking system DAM Developer Accounts Manager DD Debian Developer DFSG Debian Free Software Guidelines ITA intend to adopt ITO intend to orphan (a package) ITP intend to package NM new maintainer PL project leader QA quality assurance RFP request for packager TC Technical Committee WNPP work-needing and prospective packages -- System Information Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux elessar 2.2.19 #1 Mon May 21 19:42:05 CEST 2001 i686
