A verb again (/devel/join/nm-step3)

Hi.

On the page /devel/join/nm-step3, where is stated:
"Whatever method is used, the applicant must agree with these
principles, as well as an understanding of their meaning and
content."

Should this mean:
"Whatever method is used, the applicant must agree with these
principles, as well as _show_ an understanding of their meaning and
content."

Or is my little knowledge of the english language betraying me again?
