This is handled exactly as it should be. A translator is free to
modify the text in their translation of the .wml file if needed.
Doing so only causes their version to be updated. Any modifications
to the .data file causes all the translations to be updated. Again,
this is what I'd prefer to happen since modifications or new translations
added to the .data file should have all the versions be recompiled.
Sure an update to a translation in the .data file will cause all the
versions to be updated, but that's not a big deal. Unnecessary updates
is an issue only in the case of the template files where all the
pages in every lang get updated. I felt this was acceptable in order
to keep the different translations consistent.
In order to keep things simple for the translators, I'd like to see
us use a single style for separating the data as much as possible.
If you (Darren. Others are free to join in) would like to discuss the
merits of your set up vs. mine I could plan to be on #debian-devel
sometime.
BTW, the current version of the y2k pages do not translate 'ALL' when
used as the version. This should be fixed shortly (I hope).
