I think that's great.  But I'd also add a question something like

  Do you use your IT skills to faciliatate other work?
	Your main work is:

For which I would answer "Yes", and "My main work is physics research".

This will catch people who use IT and FOSS skills to do other stuff that isn't
entirely IT, like me.

How shall we do this survey?  Put it up on a webpage somewhere, or ask people on
the list to reply to the list, or what?
