Debian Dict on debian-women website

Hi!
I installed a new version of the script creating the dicts last
night. But I noticed that nobody ever touched the dicts since the old
program version was installed about more than three months ago on
request (see discussion in IRC and the website maling list).
Now there are three ways to go on:
- - Either content and configuration will be managed by debian-women
members there,
- - Or I switch back to rsyncing the dicts (patches/changes for the
page header and footer can be send to me)
- - remove the dicts from d-w, if nobody cares them
Doing manual changes on both places is double work. So I am not
volunteering to do that, but someone else may do. I'll help to get
started then.
Further work:
Now that I solved the problems to get the program creating the dicts
running with perl 5.8 there are some issues left for me to do.
- - Add special sortings for new languages
- - Rewrite the main sub for creating the pages
- - Write better documentation for the program and a manual on adding
languages and entries
- - find translators
- - include full dictd support [1]
- - Bug fixing ;-)
Other ideas related to the dictionaries are:
- - creating special dicts (e. g. for packaging)
- - include the dicts somewhere in the debian web tree
[1] The dict files for dictd work perfectly with Serpento as dict
server but not with dictd but can be converted using dictfmt now.
When the program originally was written, dictd had no support for
files in utf-8. Now dictd has, but the format of the dicts did
change. The pitty is, that the format for dictd files is not well
documented at all. There is nothing more than in the current manpage.
greetings
Jutta
