Bug#1006644: Any reason to keep dvidvi as a separate package outside texlive?
Hi,
today dvidvi came up as a Bug of the Day target and I had a look into
it. At its Homepage[1] there is an unversioned zip file which contains
way newer files then the Debian source package. I tried to compile it
in some refreshed d/rules which I injected into Git[2] but got
dh_autoreconf
aclocal: error: configure.ac:20: file '../../version.ac' does not exist
autoreconf: error: aclocal failed with exit status: 1
dh_autoreconf: error: autoreconf -f -i returned exit code 1
When researching for the location of ../../version.ac I learned that
dvidvi is part of texlive-source and can also be found inside the
Debian packaged texlive-bin source[4].
I wonder what might be the best thing to do from here
1. Use a copy of version.ac[5] to build the latest dvidvi source
2. Stick to the old packaged dvidvi with the Debian patches which
are all applied upstream
3. Build dvidvi from texlive-bin and make dvidvi a transitional
package
4. ?
Kind regards
Andreas.
