I have just submitted a bug proposing removal of this package as I believe that all current packages of this are broken in some way, making the application 'unusable'

The TLDR is that it is making a function call that is not compatible with ffmpeg 5.0 or later, meaning that builds in ubuntu 22.10 and later, and debian stable (bookworm) are not able to use ffmpeg, which is a severe limitation of functionality.
