Bug#1030928: ITP: nerdctl -- nerdctl is a Docker-compatible CLI for containerd.

Hi, Reinhard!

Thanks for the heads up.
I'm not currently working on this.

Feel free to take it if you'd like.

Thank you for taking this. It has been a long wait.

Sincerely,
Han

Hi Han,

Are you still working on this? I'm reaching out to avoid duplication of work, so if you have a packaging branch, please share by pushing to salsa. If not, I'm happy to start the packaging from scratch as well. Just let me know.

I've spoken to Akhiro at Kubecon in Salt Lake City, and started to look at packaging missing dependencies. So far, it doesn't look too bad, with nydus-snapshotter looking like the biggest missing dependency. I'm adding "blocks" annotations to missing dependencies as I spot them.

Best,
-rt

nerdctl is a Docker-compatible CLI for containerd.
It is a subproject of containerd, which is an industry-standard container runtime for building container-based applications. containerd provides a complete container runtime environment and can be used to manage containers at any stage of their lifecycle, from creation to destruction. With nerdctl, you can control the behavior of containerd and manage containers and images on a system. This includes tasks such as starting and stopping containers, managing images, and inspecting the state of containers and images. Essentially, nerdctl provides a convenient way to interact with and manage containerd, making it easier to build, deploy, and manage containers in production environments.
The goal of nerdctl is to facilitate experimenting the cutting-edge features of containerd that are not present in Docker.
The packages that nerdctl depends on all exist in Debian, such as containerd.
Our team is packaging and maintaining this package.
