Bug#1068294: RFH: liboqs -- library for quantum-safe cryptographic algorithms

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

In the light of recent calls to increase the quality and the bus factor of security-related packages, I request assistance with maintaining the liboqs package. I do not have enough time nor expertise to properly maintain liboqs alone.

The package is sid-only per upstream request (#1000303) and should stay this way until the upstream gives a green light.

I fail to keep up with upstream releases mostly due to the work needed to update debian/copyright. The upstream does a great job in applying REUSE standards on liboqs source, but as the package is in active development there usually are many changes to its source files.

The package description is:

liboqs is an open source C library for quantum-safe cryptographic algorithms. It provides a collection of open source implementations of quantum-safe key encapsulation mechanism (KEM) and digital signature algorithms; a common API for these algorithms; a test harness and benchmarking routines.

liboqs is part of the Open Quantum Safe (OQS) project, which aims to develop and integrate into applications quantum-safe cryptography to facilitate deployment and testing in real world contexts. In particular, OQS provides prototype integrations of liboqs into TLS and SSH, through OpenSSL and OpenSSH.
