That sounds great! It would be really nice to have wl-mirror in Debian,
as it doesn't seem like sway is any closer to fixing this problem than
it was back when this bug was filed, 5 years ago:

Can you share that proof-of-content package somewhere?

If you need a place, you can upload it to https://mentors.debian.net/
which will also provide some tests and feedback on the package. If you
prefer a git workflow, you can also register to and publish on Salsa,
our GitLab instance: https://salsa.debian.org/

Otherwise would you have any objection to someone else picking up that
work?

It is, right now, unfortunately too late for the next Debian release
(bookworm) as the freeze is coming up (basically in two days) and it's
unlikely the package makes it through.

But it doesn't mean we should stop trying to package this! It's always
possible to backport the package later.

Unless you go through the process of becoming a Debian member
(https://nm.debian.org/), you will need a sponsor, for which you file a
separate bug report here, a "request for sponsorship" (RFS). I would be
happy to sponsor this package.

Thank you for your interest in Debian!
