Package: wnpp
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: s.eisenmann@kopano.com

I (as part of the pkg-giraffe team) intent to orphan src:kopanocore.

Guido and myself unfortunately doesn't have enough free time to maintain
this package any longer.
kopanocore is an more complex package and is building a lot of related
binary packages. This package also has a very frequent upstream activity
due it's ongoing development. Unfortunately there isn't some upstream
LTS strategy for kopanocore and that makes it hard to provide some
useful care and updates (if required) for the Debian stable release. At
least this hasn't worked well for the release cycle of Debian Buster and
we expect this will also come true for the next stable release of
Debian, so the pkg-giraffe-team don't want to see kopanocore within
Debian Bulleseye.

Also upstream is now providing some new extra binary stuff around
kopanocore which is based on technologies that the pkg-giraffe team isn't
able to manage. Upstream is building things based on the Go language
e.g.

The pkg-giraffe-team is happy to offer help and guidance for interested
people which want to work on kopanocore (and also on related packages)
within Debian.

Regards
Carsten
