keepassxc is already present in debian and maintained (https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/keepassxc)
FTR I used to used to use keepassx (I still have it installed - but haven't used it for years). I switched to keepassxc some time ago. My experience was that it was a drop in replacement. There was no transition, just point it at your existing db and everything "just works".
