Fair enough.

I have evolved a structure to maintain draft packaging of Rust-based 
applications with not-yet-packaged crates embedded-but-not-git-tracked. 
If interested in borrowing from that, you can try look at rules and TODO 
and README.source files of https://salsa.debian.org/debian/safe-vdash - 
or feel free to ask for more details or other more complex examples.
