Not sure, you can try and the only hurdle I see is when gimp and remaining software stops using gtk2. Well could be ftp master rejects gtk2, but my guess for this chance is 50 %

gtk2, although it's available, I doubt it makes sense to package new
things in 2022
into Debian. I saw they have gtk3 as well, maybe try that?
