Hi Steven,

I am indeed familiar with the existing ITK v4 packaging. I am also
aware that the medical community is very unlickly to switch all their
ITK dependencies from v4 to v5 overnight. Having handled some of these
transitions upstream myself, I know from personal experience that these
things take time.

Consequently, there will be a transitional period (if not permanent)
where packaging for both major versions of ITK will need to coexist,
similar to the situation what we have got with VTK.

Hence the rationales for this ITP.

P.S. I also got approval from the debian-med team on matrix.
