Looks like lmfit (C code) got moved to https://jugit.fz-juelich.de/mlz/lmfit (not to be be confused with the fork at https://github.com/NSLS-II/lmfit )
Could be value in a nonlinear LM C library, complementing the python API in python3-lmfit, so reopening the RFP.
Would be interesting to see a benchmark comparison between the C and Python implementations.
