Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I took over the Debian gzip package on 2 December 1995, which means that
as of today, I've taken care of it for 25 years! The package is in good
shape, though a number of bugs have accumulated over the years that I have
neither the time nor motivation remaining to address... so, like some other
packages I've maintained for a long time, I've decided to offer the gzip
package for adoption.

Because this is a 'required' package, and has a special variant needed for
at least one Debian installation method, I would like to suggest that
anyone considering taking over the package have a look at the current
sources and open bug reports first, then reach out to me for a conversation
before making a commitment to take over the package.

Bdale
