WOW.

As I am considering myself the only user I am not mentally
prepared for this… ò_O

Additionally, the companion app is fumbled together in Python.

I initially wrote this in 2016 and then rewrote it in 2017 to be
a webextension – since then it does its job and hasn't required
many changes even through its in heavy use here (I am mildly
surprised webext API is really kept as stable as promised!).

That said, Firefox 68 introduced some new APIs (contentScripts and
userScripts) which might be an option for future changes – but they
don't seem to support local file access & currently I think the
extension could actually work in Chromium, too. Never tried though.
Upstream became a bit lazy after it worked as intended… 😉

I am not much of a packager myself and don't know ATM if¹ and how
webext-* are to be packaged. It tickles me enough to make me
try it eventually though, but no roadmap predictions as I have
other Debian-related projects I want to finish first.

So, no hard feelings if someone else wants to try before me.
Happy to help as upstream and/or sponsor (if needed) even.
[Even if I am still not really believing there are other users…]

Best regards

David Kalnischkies

¹ sometimes, I get the impression that side-loading browser add-ons
is on its way out upstream and hence heavily discouraged even here.
