This is not a regular scanner driver but it is a driver which gives support for the scanning parts of practically all modern printer/scanner multi-function devices. And with the soon to be added IPP Scan support an important part of the new IPP-based printing/scanning architecture which is currently under development.

Therefore it is especially interesting to have this package maintained by the Debian Printing Team.

OdyX, I will not ask you to package arbitrary scanner drivers or SANE itself.
