(Include the long description here.)

This program was formerly a part of Debian, but
the package was removed in 2016, pursuant to bug
824174.

Although the package's Debian Maintainer stated at
that time that the package was unmaintained
upstream, and that the Google Code home page had
disappeared, the project currently has a page on
Github (https://github.com/pts/sam2p) ; the
original upstream developer appears to be active
there on other projects; and there has been a
commit in this project as recently as July, 2019.

Also, it appears that fixes made by the original
developer have been incorporated into the version
in Jessie by the Debian Security group.

Although Image Magick convert and some other
programs can convert images to PDF, this package,
sam2p, appears to produce more compact PDF files,
and allows the user directly to control the way
the image is encoded, stored, and compressed in
the output PDF file.
