Bug#897304: O: pmount -- mount removable devices as normal user
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal
Hello,
I hereby orphan the pmount package. This package is widely installed
and rather useful. Prospective maintainers should also take up the
upstream maintenance which I have given up long time ago already.
Maintenance is delicate since the binary is installed with setuid
permissions. On the other hand, there hasn't been a reported security
breach for a very long time now.
Kind regards,
Vincent
The package description is:
pmount is a wrapper around the standard mount program which permits normal
users to mount removable devices without a matching /etc/fstab entry. This
provides a robust basis for automounting frameworks like GNOME's Utopia
project and confines the amount of code that runs as root to a minimum.
.
If a LUKS capable cryptsetup package is installed, pmount is able to
transparently mount encrypted volumes.
