Tepl is a library that eases the development of GtkSourceView-based
text editors and IDEs. Tepl is the acronym for “Text editor product line”.
It serves as an incubator for GtkSourceView.
The upstream author maintains this library with the intent of making Gedit
source code more reusable for use in text editors using GtkSourceView.
I believe that this package is needed in Debian because it is a dependency
of recent versions of GNOME LaTeX, formerly called LaTeXila, which is
currently packaged under the latter name in Stretch and Buster. This
library is needed to package a new upstream version.
Tepl 3.99.1+ requires GtkSourceView 4, which is only in experimental at the
moment.
