Bug#894537: ITP: iwd -- wireless daemon for Linux

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Henriksson <andreas@fatal.se>

* Package name    : iwd
  Version         : 0.1
  Upstream Author : See AUTHORS
* URL             : https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/network/wireless/iwd.git/
* License         : LGPL-2.1+
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : wireless daemon for Linux

I've prepared initial debian packaging of iwd which is available at:
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/iwd

Please see the debian/control file for full/official description.
Help welcome with improving it!

The unofficial one is that iwd is a minimalistic replacement for
wpa_supplicant (suitable for embedded). It builds on top of modern linux
interfaces (nl80211, cfg80211) and provides a D-Bus API.
There are also iwctl and iwmon command line utilities included.

This should likely still be considered experimental stage software.
Latest upstream development release of NetworkManager provides
experimental and disabled-by-default support for iwd. You should
also be able to find (upstream) support for it in connman.

(co-)maintainers welcome.

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson
