Eventually, the goal is to upstream Mir to Debian and do most of the packaging work here, under the umbrella of a Debian Mir [Server] Team, which is founded on the acceptance of this package into Debian. With the UBports team, I also plan to upstream Unity 8 to Debian, to keep it modern and usable on the desktop. This is to keep maintenance in Ubuntu easier, and allow Unity 8 to be accessible to a wider audience. Please note that I am not currently employed at Canonical, and I am simply doing this as an individual who is interested in assisting the development of the Unity 8 and Mir(-based) projects on the desktop, nothing more. I plan on staying on the Debian Mir [Server] Team once founded and helping as needed. UBports will have its own Debian team, to work on the maintenance of Unity 8.
