Bug#835086: RFP: nextcloud -- self-hosted cloud services

Dear all,

I can respect if the official debian opinion is to not provide the nextcloud server as package.
My understanding is, that the reason for this is the messy update process of owncloud in the past. Although I very much aggree with Dan, that nextcloud is working on making the aweful update process easier.

Is there any alterantive to nextcloud that comes by official debian packages?

Even if debian chooses to not feature the nextcloud server, (which I would regret) please consider the client. As a server admin I can deal with the mess of the update process, but I simply cannot ask my users to compile the client from source. Frankly, even on my own everyday machines, I prefer a "packages only" installation...

BR and many thanks
Wilhelm
