Bug#767013: ITP: mstpd -- A daemon implementing the RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) protocol for bridges

Hey,

I'm one of the co-maintainers of mstpd.

Initially the project was hosted here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mstpd/

Now, it's moved here:
http://github.com/mstpd/mstpd

Even though mstpd's purpose is MSTP, it's not there yet [even today].
It is a good RSTP implementation though, and it is being used in
production in several companies.

We do have in the repo .deb pkg generation:
https://github.com/mstpd/mstpd/tree/master/debian

And our Travis CI script does run a script from travis.debian.net
[ not sure if that's an official page of the Debian project ].
See:
https://github.com/mstpd/mstpd/blob/master/.travis.yml

As far as I can tell:
* we would need a sponsor for some guidance to package mstpd ; I've
never packaged anything for Debian officially
* probably prepare a new release for mstpd that contains all stuff
ready for making it a package in Debian [ compatibility with GCC 7,
maybe force protocol level to RSTP, and let people experiment with
MSTP, etc ]

I'm willing to put in the effort to get this through, if anyone is
willing to guide me through this.

Thanks
Alex
