This program deals with setting the local DNS information, which needs to be done by root on some systems. For example, it should allow you to run a DHCP client without giving that DHCP client full superuser privileges.

If /sbin/resolvconf is present, it is invoked as root with the recommended data. If it is not present, then /etc/resolv.conf is overwritten with a simple file.


This software is useful for dhcpcanon, to setup DNS information obtained from
DHCP servers without the need to be run as root and without depending on systemd-resolved.
