Bug#810788: OpenShot up for adoption
Dear all,
I have just filed #872902 and #872904 to give up the Openshot stack for
adoption. I need to prioritize my existing work on the Debian Science
and Python teams and did not find the time necessary for completing the
packaging for openshot-qt (now under RFP).
To whom who would be willing to take this over, I would say the most
difficult part has been done (the packaging of the backend libraries
libopenshot-audio and libopenshot). The frontend part is a Python
application (openshot-qt) with some embedded Javascript libraries.
A word of caution however. First, I'd recommend to keep the whole stack
in experimental until the application is thoroughly tested. There was a
point where I had everything working, but the application looked pretty
bad for some reason. Another warning concerns the tendency of upstream
to break the API / ABI on every release, so consider doing updates in
batches staged in experimental first.
I'll be happy to assist anyone who'd be willing to step up.
Best regards,
Ghis
