Bug#851706: RFP: siegfried -- signature-based file format identification tool

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : siegfried
  Version         : 1.6.7
  Upstream Author : Richard Lehane <richard.lehane@gmail.com>
* URL             : http://www.itforarchivists.com/siegfried
* License         : apache 2.0
  Programming Lang: Go
  Description : signature-based file format identification tool

Siegfried is a signature-based file format identification tool, implementing:

* the National Archives UK's PRONOM file format signatures
* freedesktop.org's MIME-info file format signatures
* the Library of Congress's FDD file format signatures

This goes beyond the simple `file`-based identification approach. It
is interesting because it supports official file signatures like the
UK national archives or the Library of congress's. It also supports
using multiple heuristics (file extension, content, etc) as opposed to
other tools which focus on only one. It can also inspect archive
contents and directories efficitently.

I wonder if the go packaging team could take a shot at this?
