Description : Simple binary to run command with lock file tracking

Useful with cron jobs. It can use a cron script file as its own lock
file, avoiding the need to create new files to do locking.

Is there a better alternative available in the Debian archive already?

The lockfile-progs package maintainer did not like neither the C nor the
shell implementation, and was not willing to include it in
lockfile-progs.

In the mean time I have discovered two programs already in Debian
capable of doing this exact job, running a command while a lock is held.
The primary alternative is flock from util-linux, and there is also the
lckdo command in the moreutils package (announced to be depricated in
its manual page). Both can do this task, though the exact locking
mechanism seem to differ.

Because there are good replacements in Debian already, I close this WNPP
request.
