Bug#813306: ITP: libgsystem -- GIO-based library targeted at OS components

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Simon McVittie <smcv@debian.org>

* Package name    : libgsystem
  Version         : 2015.2
  Upstream Author : primarily Colin Walters
* URL             : https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/LibGSystem
* License         : LGPL-2.1+
  Programming Lang: C with GLib
  Description : GIO-based library targeted at OS components

LibGSystem is a deprecated library used by OS components such as OSTree.
Parts of its functionality have moved into GLib; other parts of its
functionality have moved into the libglnx submodule.

----

libgsystem was partly a prototyping area for features that were considered
for future GLib inclusion, and partly a Linux-specific supplement for
the mostly-portable functionality in GLib.

It is now deprecated, so it might not be needed by the time stretch
freezes, but for now xdg-app (ITP forthcoming) and ostree (ITP #697477)
depend on it. Since it does exist as an independent library, it seems
better to package it separately than to bundle it twice.

I only intend to upload it to experimental for the moment.
