Should be no problem.

There's currently one issue which prevents us from doing a QA upload:
wicd 1.7.3 crashes in wicd-curses when accessing network property
view.

I'd suggest that you clone the git packaging repository, e.g. with

"gbp clone --pristine-tar git://anonscm.debian.org/collab-maint/wicd.git" (if you
have no Alioth account) or "gbp clone --pristine-tar
ssh://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/wicd.git" if you already have an
Alioth account.

(This command requires the packages git-buildpackage and pristine-tar
to be installed.)

Then change into the "wicd" directory.

You can get the upstream tar ball of the unreleased package by calling
the program "origtargz" from the devscripts package.

Call "dpkg-checkbuilddeps" to see which build-dependencies you need to
install before building the package.

After you have installed them, you can then build the package with
"dpkg-buildpackage" (or "dpkg-buildpackage -b" if you haven't fetch to
upstream tar ball) from the dpkg-dev package.
