Am I allowed to use full optimization (-Ofast) ? Or is it mandatory to use -O2 ?

Per https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html -- there's a lot in 10.1, but it concludes, "It is up to the package maintainer to decide what compilation options are best for the package." So -- go for it.

But preferably run some benchmarks to find out if this actually makes a difference!
