 A resolver library used to communicate with a name server to perform DNS
 queries, zone transfers, dynamic DNS updates, etc.
 Creates an object hierarchy from a DNS server response, which allows you to

 resolver library and communicates directly with the server.

It’s a dependency of the php-net-dnsbl.

That page states “This package has been superseded, but is still
maintained for bugs and security fixes. Use Net_DNS2 instead.”
php-net-dns2 is already in Debian.

This package has been removed from Debian (#802991), so I assume
php-net-dns is not needed in Debian anymore. Please feel free to reopen
if I misunderstood.
