If I correctly understood what you are trying to do then you probably want to rename file in build directory before build so you just need: ~~~~ dh $@ --buildsystem=golang --with=golang --builddirectory=_build override_dh_auto_configure: dh_auto_configure mv -v _build/src/$(DH_GOPKG)/sqlite3.go _build/src/$(DH_GOPKG)/sqlite3_libsqlite3.go ~~~~ Although package seems to work even without rename.
