Bug#786348: ITP: nautilus-hide -- Extension for Nautilus to hide files without renaming them
Yes, it would be nice if the GNOME team added this feature to Nautilus
(same thing for other file managers).
Don't know if they would want it, though.
This has been requested in the GNOME Bugzilla in 2003:
