Hi Zoneminder fans,
I'm writing to you because once you've expressed interest to help maintaining
Zoneminder in Debian. As you may already know recently we've lost zoneminder
from "unstable" due to lack of effort because nobody cared enough:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=780289
I've just took over zoneminder maintenance in Debian from Peter Howard and re-
introduced latest Zoneminder release 1.28.1 to "unstable".
Packaging is fully refurbished so it should be easier to maintain.
Now the moment is here -- let's all work together, test, answer bugs, share
patches, forward fixes upstream and do all what is necessary to never let
Zoneminder fell behind again. I can't do it alone as I'm not even an active
user of Zoneminder.
From my short interaction with upstream I can tell that they answer bugs
promptly and merge patches reasonably. It should be a positive experience to
maintain Zoneminder with upstream like this. So please, pretty please let's
work together and have fun in progress. :)
What "zoneminer" needs now is testing, little polishing and more importantly
staying on top of all issues.
Here is zoneminder's PTS page where you can subscribe to updates and follow
updates:
https://packages.qa.debian.org/z/zoneminder.html
TODO: fix kFreeBSD FTBFS.
https://github.com/ZoneMinder/ZoneMinder/issues/771
Finally please do not rely on me regarding long-term Zoneminder maintenance.
I do not have my strategic interests with Zoneminder, just helping. ;)
