Icy provides the software resources to visualize, annotate and quantify
bioimaging data.

- ImageJ, Matlab, Micro-Manager integration
- Interactive widgets
- variety of plugins for processing and visualization

Originally referred to for tracking animal behavior:
http://neurostars.org/p/2726/#2727  but it seems to provide quite a rich
environment which could be of utility for many other use-cases.
I haven't investigated yet level of compatibility with OpenJDK.
