AP-Hotspot automatically creates an infrastructure (Access Point mode) wireless hotspot that should work with Android and Windows Phone devices. The script uses hostapd and dnsmasq and it requires Access Point mode support for your wireless card - AP-Hotspot checks for this automatically and won't run if your wireless card doesn't support it.
- why is this package useful/relevant? is it a dependency for another package? do you use it? if there are other packages providing similar functionality, how does it compare?
I use it as Connectify (windows software) replacement, it works on Debian as well as Ubuntu. It just work for me (well, my wireless driver support ap). Right now, I still use the script from the *.tar and copy it to /usr/bin but I think it will be nice to have it on Debian repository, so I can get update of the script the same way as other package.
This script depend on: hostapd dnsmasq iw |
