This description is sort of okay for a web page but is not appropriate
for a Debian package. Please make it serious and up to the point.
"work with Git from within Vim" or
"Vim plugin to work with Git".

Please do `apt-cache search vim-` to get some overview of what's
already there.

Same here: please make this text concise, serious and up to the point.
There's no need to describe the exact commands the plugin provides
either: that's what built-in documentation and manual pages are for.
An overview of the possibilities is what is needed.
