I love IMMS, but I'm using Quod Libet.  The IMMS plugin for Quod Libet
can be found here (it's just a single file):
  http://ril.endoftheinternet.org/~jojkaart/imms-quodlibet/

For a system-wide installation, it should be installed to:
  /usr/share/quodlibet/plugins/events/imms.py

I no longer use IMMS nor Quodlibet, so I don't care about this. Since
nobody else has stepped forward either, I see no reason to keep it open.
