All the changes are on git [0] (I pushed them yesterday evening). I can
build something to upload to mentors.d.n if you prefer.
I'll try to work on the lintian thing today.

I didn't change the Build-Depends apart from removing the no-more-in-Debian
versioned binutils and replacing stunnel with stunnel4 (which is in
oldstable already). I don't know if the current curl was buildable on
squeeze before my changes though (I didn't try).
